HISTORY
The co-curricular organization of APSA started dating back between late 90s or early 2000s based on the visible and narrative reports existing in the office. They are only consisting back then of Executive officers and are the ones responsible in providing their fellow psychology majors the activities and events that will cater their different aspects as a student and as an individual. The Association of Psychology Students back then was not developed yet unlike today that have a more specific objectives or perspective and have a wider range of scope. They evolved into a bigger and modernized organization with the help of the former officers that helped shape the Association of Psychology Students of Ateneo co-curricular organization. By giving them various activities, they helped their fellow psychology students to understand more the things that the four corners of the classroom cannot offer.Because of the growing and transforming community of APSA, it expands its scope more and enhances their ways to give students their needs and wants at the same time. Interests and hobbies are the foundation of the APSA Groups that is a branch of APSA. It consists of (active groups) Committee-on-Outreach (COO), Facilitators’ Group (FG), Psyche Publication, and APSA Sining Sikolohista (APSining). It helps students showcase their talents in terms of the special and exclusive offer of each group. Another thing that the APSA Groups brings is that it gives the psychology students a chance to know their fellow psychology majors and at the same time, show their passion and interests to other people as well.Since the APSA is prospering because of the continuous and great improvements brought by the times, it was carried out even outside of the Ateneo community. It brought into provincial and national activities like convention and seminars. It gives the students more knowledge about the things that they need to learn and at the same time, not restricting them into a limited scope. Bicol Region Association of Psychology Students (BRAPS), and Philippine Association of Psychology Junior Affiliates (PAPJA) are example of the seminars that exclusively for psychology majors, degree holders, and masters of Psychology.Even today, the Association of Psychology Students of Ateneo is still growing and turning into a better co-curricular organization, but there will be unexpected changes maybe in the future depending on the future officers of the co-curricular organization.
